How much does a bail bond cost in South Carolina?
In South Carolina, the bail bond premium is set by state law at between 10% and 15% of the total bail amount. For example, if bail is set at $5,000, you would pay between $500 and $750 to a bondsman. This fee is non-refundable — it is the cost of the bondsman’s service.
How quickly can you get someone out of jail?
Once paperwork is signed and payment is received, we post the bond right away. The actual release time depends on the jail — some facilities process releases within 1–2 hours, others may take longer. We work as fast as the system allows and keep you updated throughout.
What information do I need to provide?
It helps to have the full name of the person arrested, the name of the jail, the bail amount, and the charges. If you don’t have all of this, call us anyway — we can help you track down what’s missing.
Do I need collateral to get a bail bond?
Not always. For many bonds, a signed indemnitor agreement and the premium payment are sufficient. For higher bond amounts or certain circumstances, collateral may be required. Call us to discuss your specific situation.
What is an indemnitor?
An indemnitor is the person who signs the bail bond agreement on behalf of the defendant — usually a family member or close friend. By signing, you are agreeing to be responsible for ensuring the defendant appears at all court dates and for the full bond amount if they do not.
What happens if the defendant misses a court date?
If the defendant fails to appear in court, the judge can issue a bench warrant for their arrest and the bond may be forfeited. The indemnitor could be held responsible for the full bail amount. It is very important that the defendant attends every required court appearance.
Can I get a bail bond if I have bad credit?
Yes. We do not run credit checks as part of the standard bail bond process. Payment options include cash, credit card, debit card, Zelle, Cash App, and Square.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, Zelle ((843) 274-4531), Cash App ($eliteshadowmb), Square, and cash. We work with families to make payment as straightforward as possible.
Are you available on nights and weekends?
Yes — we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. Arrests don’t follow business hours, and neither do we.
Which counties do you serve?
Elite Shadow MB is licensed to write bail bonds in Horry, Georgetown, Marion, Dillon, Florence, Darlington, Sumter, and Williamsburg counties in South Carolina.
Is the bail bond premium refundable?
No. The premium you pay to the bail bondsman is a service fee and is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the case. This is standard practice regulated by South Carolina state law.
What is the difference between a bail bond and cash bail?
Cash bail means paying the full bail amount directly to the court — that money is returned after the case if the defendant appears. A bail bond means paying a bondsman a smaller percentage (10–15% in SC) to guarantee the full amount on your behalf. The premium is not returned, but it allows most families to secure release without paying the full bond amount upfront.
How do I find out what the bail amount is?
You can call the jail directly, check the county detention center’s inmate search online (most SC counties have one), or call us — we can often help you find this information quickly.
